Dedicated e-commerce hosting and application modernisation

Dedicated Server E-commerce Modernisation for The Pine Garden

Over a relationship spanning more than 10 years, QUAPE replaced PGCake.com’s legacy custom ASP application with an open-source PHP stack and hosts its online ordering system on high-performance dedicated infrastructure in Singapore.

The situation

What the customer needed resolved

The Pine Garden’s online ordering system was built on an ageing, customised ASP application. The legacy platform was increasingly difficult to maintain and limited the improvements that could be made to the customer shopping and ordering experience. As a busy Singapore e-commerce operation, the business also needed responsive local infrastructure capable of handling substantial daily order activity.

Privacy and scope: Credentials, security-sensitive indicators, private system details and mailbox data are intentionally excluded.

QUAPE’s response

How the project was handled

Work was sequenced to restore service while reducing avoidable migration and production risk.

  1. 01

Reviewed the legacy ASP application, ordering workflows, business rules, data dependencies and operational requirements before planning the rewrite.

  2. 02

Designed and rebuilt the customised ordering system on an open-source PHP stack to improve maintainability and reduce dependence on obsolete technology.

  3. 03

Updated the online shopping flow and supporting website components to provide customers with a smoother ordering experience.

  4. 04

Provisioned high-performance dedicated server infrastructure in Singapore for the application and database workload.

  5. 05

Validated ordering workflows after migration and continued to provide managed hosting and technical support throughout a customer relationship spanning more than 10 years.

Outcome

The documented result

PGCake.com now operates on a maintainable open-source PHP stack hosted on QUAPE’s dedicated Singapore infrastructure. The local server location reduces network distance for Singapore customers and supports a responsive ordering experience during substantial daily e-commerce activity. According to QUAPE project records, the modernised platform improved the web shopping experience and has remained under QUAPE’s hosting and technical care for more than 10 years. No fixed latency, order-throughput or conversion-rate improvement is claimed because a preserved public benchmark dataset was not provided.
